In support of the national rollout for Land Shark, I created this washed up crate packed with promotional and informative items, including branded messages in bottles, to excite and educate wholesalers about the brand, which became a 2008 St. Louis Addy Award winner in the 3-dimensional direct mail category.

Chelada - The Perfect Combination of Bud/BudLight and Clamato juice...not my cup of tea, but it's actually very popular. If you like a bloody mary, then you will like Chelada. I lead the team at XG-ad to develop and refresh the national look at retail for this growing brand.

Architecture Project 3: Native American Embassy

The site sat between various foreign embassies represening countries around the world. I focused this project on Native American culture and its lack of representation in Washington. The concept took many of its cues from cultural elements and the surrounding structures.

Along the upper edge of New York city sits heavily wooded bluffs along the Hudson River, this project created a space that could be used as an end point of exile and escape for a private Manhattan resident.

My solution was to use to surrounding spatial relationships of the site to form a learning space where all levels would be unified by a central corridor and would encourage collaboration using common areas and overlapping spaces.

Starrett-Lehigh Building Lobby

While in college, I hooked up with the architects Maria Hellerstein and Nikolai Katz as they renovated the lobby of this landmark building on Manhattan's West Side. The building is home to many large brands including Martha Stewart Omnimedia and Hugo Boss and there was always something going on there, I even rode the elevator with Rod Stewart one night. I served as an illustrator working from their plans and creating presentation renderings used to secure funds and gain approvals from the building owners. I was able provide input at various stages of the job, even helping to choose the color palette and create the twist at the top of the columns.

Tap markers are often the last line in the promotion of a beer, especially with some smaller and regional brands, it is the only point of sale you will see in a bar. Therefore, a tap marker needs to be eye-catching enough for a consumer and functional for the barkeep to use easily. These are some examples I have created at XG-Ad for Anheuser-Busch brands.

A little about me to start...

I have been in the advertising and sports marketing industry for over eight years in New York City and St. Louis. I am currently an Associate Creative Director at XG-Advertising in St. Louis.

While born in St. Louis, I spent much of my formative years in Queens, New York, where I honed my drawing skills at my window, sketching the Manhattan skyline and the rest of the city as it went past. Becoming a child of the city, I picked up an early passion for art, design, graffiti and architecture.

I graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn with a Bachelors Degree in Architecture in 1998, while also taking extensive courses in Illustration and Urban Planning. Through the Pratt Center for Community Development, I spent time working at The Point in the Bronx, developing a unified streetscape and mural plan for the neighborhood of Hunts Point, working alongside graffiti legends Tats Cru. Upon graduation, I went to work with a professor of mine, the award-winning illustrator Albert Lorenz, working in pen and ink on illustrations for books, posters, maps and puzzles.

In 2001, I received a Masters of Art in Computer Design from Long Island University and began a freelance design career, working for PPMG, NYC creating logos and marketing materials for large and small companies. I also worked with the Audubon Partnership for Economic Development, NYC creating a comprehensive urban design plan for the Manhattan neighborhood of Washington Heights.

I was named Art Director of Steiner Sports Marketing in 2002, developing licensed consumer products, trade advertising and marketing materials for athletes such as Derek Jeter, Hank Aaron and Mariano Rivera.

In the fall of 2004, I accepted a senior designer position at XG-Ad in St. Louis and went to work creating advertising for a wide range of clients that include Anheuser-Busch, Tonka and Vermont Spirits. I am currently an Associate Creative Director specializing in sports marketing and adjusting to the quiet life in the suburb of O'Fallon with my beautiful wife Rachel and Sanford the cat.
